Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
